To a doctor," says dermatologist Amy McMichael, MD, "healthy hair is hair that's growing appropriately out of every follicle, not easily broken, and connected to a healthy scalp.... it's hair that's as long and full as you'd like it to be. It's bouncy, shiny, and manageable.
"A balanced diet can give your hair all the nutrients it needs to satisfy both definitions for healthy hair, says McMichael, who directs the Hair Disorder Clinic at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C. 
Your hair needs the same well-rounded diet that provides all the recommended vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients needed for good health in the rest of your body. (Culled from WebMD).

According to the experts, eating right is key in maintaining a healthy hair. Below is a list of hair products that can help you nourish your hair even when you can't.

1) Restorative Shampoo

Hair itself has oils but most products we use strip away all the natural oils leaving the hair dry and brittle.  When buying shampoo, Pay attention to the labels with the words "anti-breakage," "balancing" "strengthening," "restorative," or "renewal," and in some cases ( depending on your hair type)  "Sulphate free". Sulfate-based shampoos can potentially dry out your hair, leading to a lack of moisture and sometimes even damage like split ends. Sulphate-free shampoos don’t completely wash away your hair's moisture, doesn’t froth or create as many suds. Brands like L'Oreal make sulfate-free options.

2 ) Heat-Protecting Spray

Most flat irons can go as high 400 degrees, it's important to make sure your hair doesn't feel the burn. Get yourself a heat Tamer such as-Tresemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray, it protects the hair with a layer of silicone.

       
3) A Deep Conditioner

To maintain a healthy hair, tbis is a requirement. At least once a week, a thorough damage control wont hurt no one. Use a deep conditioner such as L'Oreal Re Nutrition Intense Mask.

The conditioning ingredients in the L’Oréal Paris Re-Nutrition Deep Moisture Mask bathe even very dry hair. The nourshing properties infuse hair fibre with moisture to regain manageability and bounce while leaving behind a smoothing film that hides dryness and damage for days.

4) Gloss! Gloss!! Gloss!!!

Even if your hair isn't at its healthiest, you can fake a shine with a gloss treatment in few m8nutes. Glosses are as straight forward and easy to use. Macadamia nourishing moisture oil treatment gives a noticeable shine, penetrates deep into hair strands without weighing it down or greasy. This stuff is pure magic. Put it on at night time to let it really soak in, then put a little more on in the morning. It works well for extremely dry and damaged fine hair.

    

5) Gentle Brush

Using a brush with rough, wiry bristles can cause breakage. While you blow out your hair, make sure to NOT use a metal one because it can heat up and actually burn the cuticle. Instead, go for a rubber paddle brush with smooth synthetic bristles, the ones with little balls on the ends.

UNDERSTANDING THE QUALITY OF YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS

                                                    



A lot of people buy extensions without really knowing the quality. Hair extensions are categorized by grade e.g 5A, 6A, 7A and like some of us know, the higher the grade number, the better quality you get and the more expensive the hair is.

So let’s ask ourselves, what are the difference between these grades?

Grade 5A- Hair lasts up to 5-6 months (Caters for low class)

Grade 6A- Hair lasts up to 8-9 months (Middle class)

Grade 7A- Hair lasts up to or more than 1 year (Luxury)

5A is of low quality and most times, the hair is mixed and acid processed.

6A is 100% human hair without mixing but may have been processed.

7A is completely human hair that is cut with full cuticle, unprocessed (No acid baths) and natural.

Prices vary depending on the seller but if you are trying to save money while still getting a good hair, your best bet is the grade 6A. You get better hair without breaking the bank.

N.B- Although, the above quality analysis may vary from one factory to another but it should give you an idea of what you are paying for.
